The process of becoming a school bus or van driver requires about four weeks of time for lessons, training, and testing before you take the wheel. If you think the job is a good fit for your interests, skills, and work-life balance, it’s well worth the time and effort to qualify to drive yellow!

How to become a school bus driver

First you must:
  • • Be at least 21 years old
  • • Hold a valid Class G driver’s license
  • • Have at least 3 years of driving experience and a good record
Then, follow the steps below.

Step 3: Pass a medical examination. Step 4: Provide police record checks. Step 5: complete road training with an instructor. Step 6: Pass the road test for a class B license. Step 7: Perform test runs on your assigned route.
